Don’t Underestimate the Power of St. Louis

With all of the excitement from the St. Louis Cardinals winning the World Series, and seeing how the city of St. Louis comes together and supports their hometown team, I’ve realized how lucky I am to have moved to this city.
Although I’m not originally from St. Louis, I’ve lived in the city for about four years and can proudly say this is my new home.
I’ll admit I’ve thought about how cool it would be to live in L.A. or N.Y.C., but then I realize no matter where I go, St. Louis will always have my heart.
This city is not only filled with some great toasted ravioli, but with amazing people and opportunities—all of which can easily get overlooked in comparison to other cities.
With that said, I’ve compiled a list of my top five reasons St. Louis rocks
1. The Gateway Arch
Better known in St. Louis as “the Arch,” the Gateway Arch is the nation’s tallest monument and is the iconic image of the city. Although riding to the top of the Arch may not be the most thrilling experience, this monument is definitely worth seeing.
2. Sports, Sports, Sports!
We’re not only home to 11-time World Series Champions the St. Louis Cardinals, we also have the St. Louis Blues hockey team and the St. Louis Rams football team.
If you’re a sports junkie, this city can help feed your addiction
3. Mmm…Food
Have you ever heard of toasted ravioli or gooey butter cake? These are just two of the unique specialty foods the city has to offer.
If you’re in town be sure to check out The Hill for some excellent Italian fare. For dessert, visit the well-known Ted Drewes for what will surely become your new favorite ice cream treat.
4. Free Attractions
Seriously, who doesn’t like free? Some of the top free attractions in the city include the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Science Center, the St. Louis Art Museum, Anheuser Busch Brewery Tours and Grant’s Farm…just to name a few.
5. Neighborhoods and Parks Galore
With more than 70 neighborhoods and over 100 parks in the city, including the famous Forest Park, which covers 1,293 acres, St. Louis has you covered!
No matter if you’ve lived in St. Louis all of your life, are a new resident or are just visiting, St. Louis is sure to have something for you. It’s all about discovering!
