As our creative business expands, so does the mix of characters who roam the halls of Brighton. Today we introduce you to our very own self-proclaimed “Mad Man,” Steve Cox.

What is your current role at Brighton? David (Brighton’s Creative Director) and I are finalizing. Titles we are exploring are “Sir Loin of Beef” and “Chief Mad Man.”

What does this role entail? Executing superior visuals that support Brighton’s rock solid strategies.

What was your first week working at Brighton like? The first week was incredible. Pretty much thrown into the fire from day one. I am use to the pace, though; 23 years of quickstepping has prepared me well.

Outside of work, what are your hobbies? I shoot photos for fun. Mostly Instagrams, but I also have work in a gallery in Soulard. My photo peeps and I take trips around town and explore some of the abandoned urban areas. I am also an avid collector of all things visually cool. I spend many hours at flea markets, antique stores and garage sales. My best find is an original Florence Knoll couch from the ’50s that I got from an alley in South St. Louis. I also have several hats, glasses and shoes. My favorites are the vintage styles. Can’t get enough of the Mad Men era.

Where do you currently reside? I live in Lafayette Square behind Park Avenue coffee. It is great to be able to walk out my back door and have brewed coffee and scones waiting. Thank you, Park Ave. I have a 15-year-old son named Taylor who made the Webster Groves varsity golf team as a freshman. I have been dating an incredible woman named Pamela Lawson for the past 10 months. We met at a photo gallery opening that was displaying both of our work. My two cats are named Fraidy and Spotty, and through Pamela, I have become quite fond of her two-year-old deaf Jack Russell Terrier named Weston Carl. Pam and I are currently working on a greeting card series that features Weston and all his craziness—to be in pet stores and gift shops through St. Louis.

Anything else you would like to add? I am still trying to figure out what I am going to be when I grow up.
